Exercise challenge: indications and techniques

Abstract

This article outlines the use of the exercise challenge as a tool for diagnosis in patients suspected of having asthma, for assessment of the severity of the condition of a patient with asthma, for assessment of the patient's response to asthma drugs, and for research in the areas of asthma and hyperreactivity. Guidelines are also provided for conducting the exercise challenge and calculating test results.
