I would never want this for my baby

Pediatr Crit Care Med. 2009 Jan;10(1):113-4. doi: 10.1097/PCC.0b013e3181937adf.

Abstract

Objective: To explore end-of-life issues and so-called futile care by narrative.

Design: Narrative.

Results: This article is a narrative reflecting on so-called futile care, on caregivers' moral distress and on parents' heart breaking decisions to let go.

Implications: Through this story, the physician manages to solve the conflict between the caregivers and the parents by not placing a do not resuscitate order, offering a short code in case of an arrest, and not abandoning them.
