• Mild asthma |

• Gastroenteritis treated with oral rehydration therapy |
• Minor head injuries with no neurological signs |
• Simple febrile convulsions in infants over 1 year in whom there was an obvious focus of infection |
• Known children with epilepsy who were ‘postictal’ |
• Non-specific abdominal pain |
• Upper respiratory tract infections |
• Accidental poisoning requiring a period of observation, for example paracetamol |
• Children known to the department with mild diabetic ketoacidosis or hypoglycaemia |
• Cystic fibrosis patients for initiation of home intravenous treatment |
• Haemophilia |
