AB  - Over a 2-year period 80% of children found to have significant Proteus bacteriuria were boys. The organism was isolated from the prepuce in 30% of normal boys and 32% of those with balanitis. Proteus urinary tract infection should be carefully confirmed and proved cases thoroughly investigated.
