During the first summer wave of the 2009 pandemic caused by H1N1 Swine-Origin Flu Virus (H1N1), in contrast to some other areas in the UK,1 there was only one H1N1-positive paediatric admission to Bristol Children's Hospital paediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
