Diagnostic x-rays and childhood leukaemia

The known risk factors for leukaemia in children include Down's syndrome, some chemotherapeutic agents and ionising radiation. High-dose ionising radiation is an established cause but the effect of lower dosage such as that used in diagnostic radiography remains uncertain.
