We appreciate the recent perspective entitled “Need to address all forms of childhood malnutrition with a common agenda” by Corvalan et al published in response to our paper on “Rapidly rising rates of overweight and obesity coupled with persistently high rates of undernutrition among school aged children in an urban Indo-Asian population” in a recent issue of Archives of Disease in Childhood.1 2
We agree with the authors’ projections concerning the impending childhood obesity epidemic in low and middle income countries and its likely negative consequences exacerbated by weak health systems and fragile economies.
