I was amazed to read the positive tone of the discussion in a recent article published in your journal which concluded that supplementation with a probiotic is beneficial in improving the extent and severity of AD in young children (Arch Dis Child 2005;90:892-897). This was despite the fact that the data clearly showed no significant difference in improvement between the placebo and treatment groups....

We read with interest the article written by Weston and colleagues [1] on the effects of probiotics (Lactobacillus fermentum PCCTM) on atopic dermatitis (AD).
