A 3-month-old infant with unremarkable medical history presented to the emergency room with a 72-hour history of fever, poor feeding and irritability. Blood tests were performed showing C reactive protein of 30 mg/dL, PCT of 9 ng/mL and white cell count of 9.8 x109/L with 46% neutrophils.
