Abstract

Background ACE inhibitors (iACE) antifibrotic mechanisms for CKD progression is still investigated among them their influence for intercellular interaction and apoptosis regulation

patients and methods TGB-1, metalloproteinase-9 ( MMP-9), sFas-receptor, fibronectin serum levels were measured in 24 normotensive children 9–12 years with non-immune CKD 1 stage with proteinuria 0,4±0,04 g/days divided in 2 groups- 11 with regular fozinopril 0,2±0,03 (0,1–0,3) mg/kg treatment and 13 without ACE inhibitors.

Results Pro- sclerotic agents TGB-1, fibronectin, sFas-receptor were significantly low in children with iACE therapy, and the level of MMP-9 proteolytic activity was higher according to patients without iACE treatment.

Conclusion This analysis has allowed to describe one of the main aspects of antiproteinuric and, respectively, antifibrotic effort for iACE: reduction of activity of pro-sclerotic substances and strengthening of proteolytic activity in an extracellular matrix.
