Kerion celsi: a misdiagnosed scalp infection

A 6-year-old Caucasian girl presented with a 4×5 cm pustular, weeping scalp lesion (figure 1) that had begun 10 days previously as an innocuous small itchy red spot, which had rapidly increased in size (figure 2). She had been systemically well with no fever or other skin lesions.
