We read with interest the paper by Andrew Mellon and Deborah Murdoch-Eaton, ‘Supervisor or mentor: is there a difference? Implications for paediatric practice’.1 In this paper, the authors acknowledge the significant differences in perception and definitions of mentoring that exist within paediatric practice and beyond, which contribute to uncertainty about how mentoring best sits within the supervisor-trainee relationship.
