Recovery from behavior and developmental effects of chronic oral methylphenidate following an abstinence period
2018, Pharmacology Biochemistry and BehaviorCitation Excerpt :Our findings also reveal a sex-dependent anxiolytic effect of MP as demonstrated by a greater proportion of time spent in the open arms of an elevated plus maze in the female HD group compared to the female water group. This finding is concordant with previous reports of MP-induced anxiolytic effects both from our team (Thanos et al., 2015; Robison et al., 2017b), and others (Barrickman et al., 1995; Bouffard et al., 2003; Zhu et al., 2010). As expected during the abstinence phase, we found no significant differences in anxiety-like behaviors between the treatment and control groups, again demonstrating the recoverability of the effect of MP.

2015, Pharmacology Biochemistry and BehaviorThe effect of bupropion XL and escitalopram on memory and functional outcomes in adults with major depressive disorder: Results from a randomized controlled trial
2014, Psychiatry ResearchCitation Excerpt :Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that acts on the primary serotonin transporter and the allosteric serotonin transporter site (Zhong et al., 2012). Bupropion has been shown to exert positive effects on a wide range of cognitive functions including memory (Conners et al., 1996; Evins et al., 2005; Barrickman et al., 1995), and has been reported to exert a superior effect to SSRIs on memory in a naturalistic study of individuals with MDD (Gualtieri and Johnson, 2007; Gualtieri et al., 2006). However, longitudinal investigations of bupropion׳s effects on memory in individuals with MDD are limited.
