2021, Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case ReportsCitation Excerpt :After exclusion of other reasons for the hypoventilation, a full evaluation of infants with suspected CCHS includes electrocardiogram and echocardiography, ophthalmologic examination, testing for neural crest tumors and genetic testing to confirm the diagnosis. As a first step, we performed a cardiologic work-up, as an association with pulmonary hypertension, cor pulmonale and conduction disturbances, as heart blocks or sick sinus syndrome, have been described in up to 78% of patients with CCHS [7]. In our patient, echocardiography showed a patent foramen ovale, but no structural pathology, and the electrocardiogram was also normal.
