Several reports have been published on the outcomes and complications of open pancreatectomy.14,17-22 The most serious complications are associated with near-total pancreatectomy and include recurrent hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia which may require repeat pancreatic resection, biliary tree injury, and pancreatic endocrine and exocrine insufficiency.
