2021, Journal of Affective DisordersCitation Excerpt :Job burnout refers to the state in which people engaged in helping others are exhausted due to long-term and uncontrollable work stress, including emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment (Wu et al., 2019; Bianchi and Brisson, 2019). Previous studies have found that there was a high correlation between job burnout and depression (Armon et al., 2013; Capone et al., 2019; Lloyd et al., 1994). Ninety percent of the individuals who had symptoms of job burnout met the clinical diagnostic criteria for depression at least several times a week (Bianchi et al., 2014).
