Sudden and unexpected death in childhood due to an undiagnosed hepatoblastoma: Case report and review of literature
2021, Journal of Forensic and Legal MedicineCitation Excerpt :The actual epidemiology of SUDNIC is difficult to determine and most of the cases cited in literature regard either very few case studies3,5,10–23 or rare and somewhat limited reviews.5,8 Nevertheless, the rate of incidence reported in literature varies on the whole between 0.10% and 0.47%5,10,24 with the majority of cases being those of primary tumors affecting a vital organ such as the heart or the encephalic stem. Hence, such cases include tumors of the heart and primary encephalic tumors, as well as hematopoietic growths (which lead to a fatal cerebral hemorrhage).5,10–14,18,25–29
Clinicopathological features of sudden unexpected infectious death: Population-based study in children and young adults
2012, Forensic Science InternationalCitation Excerpt :SD in children and young people is infrequent. Infectious diseases are one of the major causes, especially in the youngest [5–14]. Although in the past decade concern about sudden cardiac death has been growing, data addressing the issue of epidemiology and causes of sudden unexpected death from infectious diseases (SUDID) are sparse.
