In the accompanying letter,1 Nicholl et al are critical of the decision by Archives of Disease in Childhood editors to publish a review by Sprigg,2 which mentions the term ‘temporary brittle bone disease (TBBD)’, and of the subsequent publication of the letter by Paterson,3 a proponent of the term. This requires an editorial response.
