An unusual case of acute tetraparesis

A previously fit and well 3-year-old girl presented with sudden onset of tetraparesis associated with urinary incontinence, following a brief episode of cervicalgia. Although she reported falling down a flight of stairs, this was not witnessed or heard by her mother. Clinical examination revealed generalised hypotonia, areflexia and tetraparesis.
