NICE clinical guideline 86. Coeliac disease: recognition and assessment of coeliac disease

The recently published NICE guideline 86 (May 2009), ‘Recognition and assessment of coeliac disease’,1 recommends screening in ‘high risk’ populations such as children and young people with type 1 diabetes. However, due to lack of evidence and without expert consensus, a recommendation on repeat testing after diabetes diagnosis is not made.
