Dear Editor, Re: Cover Photograph January 2007 Volume 92. No.1 Above the caption ‘Immunogenicity of Pediacel’, the cover photograph for Archives of Disease in Childhood, January edition depicted a child (not a 2, 3 or 4 month old infant to whom Pediacel (DTaP/IPV/Hib vaccine) should be administered) (1) receiving what one assumes is a vaccine (in spite of the volume being close to 1.5mls) in the upper arm (which is the incorrect injection site for infants). Archives has repeated a similar mistake to her sister publication, the BMJ (BMJ front cover 16 Sept 2006(3)). It could be argued that this is merely a demonstration and is not important. Yet the Chinese proverb “a picture is worth a thousand words” reminds us that so many things are picked up subconsciously from these images, as advertisers well know. Yours sincerely, Dr Tom Dawson
