Abstract

Children under five years old seeking for care at pediatric emergency room with clinical and radiologic findings of pneumonia had hemoculture drawn. Viridans streptococcal (VS) was isolated in 10 from 33 positive hemocultures as only microorganism. This finding suggests VS should not be ruled out as the cause of pneumonia.

Keywords: community pneumonia, hemoculture, viridans streptococcus
